LIMONE DI MASSA LUBRENSE, also known as Massese or Ovale di Sorrento, is a lemon ecotype grown in the province of Naples. The tree reaches a height of about 5 meters under natural conditions. The plant is highly remontant and, in a favorable climate, can bloom up to five times a year, which ensures an extended harvest period from January to October.

The fruits have an elliptical shape and an average weight of at least 85 grams. The medium-thick peel has a pronounced aroma due to the high content of essential oils, and the light straw-colored flesh is distinguished by high juiciness and a balanced content of acids and sugars. To protect the trees from cold and wind, special straw coverings are traditionally used.

The variety is widely used in cooking; in particular, it is the main raw material for the production of limoncello, and is also used in the confectionery industry and for fresh consumption.
