The variety is a mandarin hybrid, also known as Clemenvilla. The designation NO 158 is the technical registration number of the clone in collections, rather than a separate variety; the name uglifruit is incorrectly used as a synonym and refers to another citrus species.

The fruits are characterized by a deep orange color and thin peel. The dense, juicy flesh contains a high amount of sugar with moderate acidity; the number of segments is 12–16, and seeds are usually absent or present in small quantities.

The variety ripens in December–January, although the timing may vary depending on growing conditions. Cross-pollination is required for fruit set; the fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and juice production.
