The group of hybrids was bred to improve soil adaptation and increase resistance to citrus tristeza virus, Phytophthora, and nematodes. The plants are small trees or shrubs with narrow leaves that resemble the leaves of Poncirus in shape. Well-known representatives of the group include Bitters, Carpenter, Furr, as well as selection numbers US-812, US-852, and US-942.
Citrandarin fruits are medium-sized and may resemble a mandarin or clementine in appearance. They possess a coarse, aromatic peel, but due to their acidic taste and specific flavor, they are usually not consumed fresh. Given that Citrandarin is a collective name, the characteristics of specific plants vary significantly depending on the parent forms.
