The Carrizo rootstock is a hybrid of Washington Navel orange and trifoliate orange. Trees grafted onto this rootstock possess high vigor and reach a medium or standard size. The rootstock positively influences fruit quality, promoting good taste characteristics and medium or large fruit size, although it may contribute to increased acidity in hot climates.
The plant possesses intermediate resistance to Phytophthora, is tolerant to Citrus tristeza virus, psorosis, and xyloporosis, but is vulnerable to exocortis. It is characterized by sensitivity to high soil pH and salinity, yet it is resistant to low temperatures and tolerates temporary soil waterlogging well, providing high-quality anchorage of the root system.
