Variety description

10 August 2026

The Morton variety tree is characterized as fairly compact, with a dense spherical crown, reaching a height of up to 6 meters, with thorns potentially present on the branches. The leaves are trifoliate, dark green, oval-lanceolate in shape, often with a pronounced winged petiole.

The variety has the ability to withstand temperatures down to -15°C. The fruit ripening period occurs from November to February. The fruits are round or slightly flattened in shape, smooth, orange or yellow-orange in color, sometimes with slight ribbing.

The fruit pulp is juicy, the taste is sour with a slight bitterness, which is why they are more often used for processing into lemonades, jams, and marmalades. The variety is also used as a rootstock capable of imparting better productivity and increased sugar content to cultivated citrus.
