The plant is a hybrid of the Washington Navel orange variety and trifoliate orange. It forms medium to large-sized trees, with fruit ripening occurring in December-January. The fruits are characterized by a pronounced sour and bitter taste, which limits their consumption.

The main purpose of the variety is as a rootstock for oranges, grapefruits, and mandarins. The variety possesses good tolerance to the citrus tristeza virus, nematodes, and Phytophthora. At the same time, it is sensitive to alkaline, calcareous, saline, and heavy clay soils, on which the plants often exhibit chlorosis.

Trees grafted onto this rootstock are characterized by early bearing and high yield. The variety is incompatible with Eureka type lemons; when such a graft is attempted, a characteristic yellow ring forms at the union.
