Trees of the Spring Sunshine variety have medium to high vigor, an upright canopy, and are almost thornless. The plants are prone to alternate bearing and are self-compatible. The variety shows sensitivity to Alternaria, and the fruits are prone to splitting.

The fruits have a smooth, thin, reddish-orange rind that adheres tightly to the flesh but peels relatively easily. The flavor profile is characterized as sweet with a distinct acidity; the fruits contain plenty of juice and a small number of seeds. Harvesting is usually carried out from February to April.
