The Nubia variety is a compact climber with a height of 1.0 to 1.8 meters. The plant has dense green foliage and large single flowers 10–15 cm in diameter, which have a velvety dark red color and dark anthers.

Belongs to pruning group 3. Flowering occurs on current-year shoots and continues from May to September. The variety has good winter hardiness, corresponding to USDA zones 4–9, and is resistant to diseases provided there is drainage and shading of the root zone.
