Variety description

The variety is a mutation of the clematis H.F. Young and belongs to the Regal collection. The plant is a compact shrubby vine with a height of 1.5 to 2 meters. The variety is intended for small gardens, use in container cultivation, as well as for decorating trellises, obelisks, and fences.

The flowers are large, 10–15 cm in diameter, double, with a lilac-blue or mauve-blue shade and a lush center of pointed petaloids. The variety is remontant: it blooms in May–June on the previous year's shoots and in August–September on the current year's shoots. It belongs to pruning group 2.

The plant has winter hardiness up to USDA zone 4, however, in harsh climates, it requires covering. Like other large-flowered clematis, it can be affected by wilt, powdery mildew, or leaf spots, therefore it requires good drainage and protection of the root system from overheating.
