The plant has an upright, woody stem resembling a palm. The leaves are lanceolate, leathery, and colored in dark red, purple, or burgundy tones with bright, often pink edges. Young leaves may have a bronze hue.

Under container conditions, the plant height is typically 40–60 cm, and under favorable conditions, it can reach 1–2 meters. The variety is characterized by hardiness and disease resistance, although spider mite infestations are possible if growing conditions are compromised. The plant is toxic to pets.
