The Negret variety, also known as Negret N-9, is a shrub with low vigor. The plant is characterized by high productivity and is in demand for industrial cultivation due to its excellent nut traits.

The main biological features of the variety include a tendency toward heavy root sucker formation, which complicates plantation maintenance. In addition, the variety shows susceptibility to chlorosis caused by iron deficiency.

Kernel quality depends on the cultivation method: on its own roots, the pellicle has a dark brown color. The use of clonal rootstocks allows the shade of the pellicle to be changed to a lighter one and improves oil stability, as well as reducing the intensity of sucker formation.
