Nostrale, also known as Nostrale di Sicilia or Siciliana, is not a breeding variety, but represents a collection of local populations or clones. Genetically, this type unites a group of regional names distributed in the province of Messina and the Nebrodi Mountains area.
The plant is characterized by very early flowering, which begins at the end of November. The fruits have a characteristic round shape, possess a delicate taste with an intense aftertaste and an aroma suitable for roasting. The nuts are also used in oil production and the cosmetic industry.
