The plant reaches a height of 40 to 60 cm and forms lanceolate or elliptical leaves with slightly wavy margins. Young leaves are colored in a bright reddish hue, which changes with age to reddish-brown and olive-green tones with potential light-colored veins.

The variety is considered relatively undemanding and is suitable for keeping in aquariums at a water temperature of 20–28 °C and pH 6.0–8.0. To maintain intense coloration, CO₂ supply, application of micro-fertilizers containing iron, and bright lighting are necessary. It propagates vegetatively via daughter plants on flower stalks or by rhizome division.
