The Weiße Lena variety belongs to the Erica x darleyensis group and is a hybrid of Erica carnea and Erica erigena. In professional classifications, it is recorded under the code ERI 69, which distinguishes it from other varieties such as Lena.
The plant has dark foliage and white flowers, the shade of which is characterized as not purely white. Due to these morphological features, the variety has been pushed out of the market by newer forms, in particular Reinweiße Lena.
Cultivation requires well-drained, humus-rich, slightly acidic soils with a pH level below 4.5–6.5. The plant prefers sunny or semi-shaded locations and is used in heather gardens, containers, and group plantings.
