The variety is a bushy plant with vertically directed shoots, reaching a height of 60 cm to 1 m and a width of about 25 cm. A characteristic feature is the stable bright yellow leaf coloration, which is most intense in the spring period.
The plant blooms from May to July or from September to October; the flowers are white and inconspicuous. The variety is winter hardy down to -15 °C and can be affected by powdery mildew, like other members of the species. The plant is poisonous, especially its bark and seeds.
The crop is used in single plantings, for container cultivation, and for forming compact hedges.
