Festuca arundinacea Schreb. Tall fescue · Agricultural · bred by LA DEFENSA

Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety belongs to the Mediterranean type of tall fescue and is characterized by a summer dormancy state, which allows the plant to survive extreme heat and moisture deficit. During this period, the metabolic activity of the crop decreases, which ensures high shoot survival in arid conditions.

The plant demonstrates intensive growth in the autumn-winter period and is productive in regions with mild winters. The crop is used as forage in arid zones and is not intended for permanently irrigated pastures. The variety is capable of good development and survival without endophyte infection and often serves as a genetic basis for developing new breeding forms.
