The variety is a turf type plant distinguished by a dark green color, upright bunch form, and fine leaf texture. The presence of rhizomes contributes to the formation of dense sod and recovery from damage. Plants often contain Neotyphodium endophytes, which increase resistance to insect pests.
Breeding of the variety was aimed at improving indicators of color, stand density, and resistance to diseases such as brown rust and Rhizoctonia. Development of the line led to the creation of subsequent generations, Grande II and Grande 3, which are characterized by increased indicators of density and disease resistance.
The plant is intended for establishing lawns in home yards, parks, sports fields, and areas with arid conditions. Due to the presence of endophytes capable of producing alkaloids harmful to livestock, the variety is not used as feed for agricultural animals.
