The variety «Maris Kasba» was developed using germplasm of Mediterranean origin. The crop differs from temperate climate varieties in its type of adaptation and ability to maintain productivity under drought conditions.

Plants of this variety have relatively small dimensions and a low growth rate compared to other representatives of the species. The variety is primarily used in scientific comparative studies of ecophysiological responses and productivity under grazing conditions.
