The Kiowa variety belongs to the mid-late group and is intended for forage use, including pastures, haymaking, and silage. Dry matter yield reaches 10.7 t/ha per year. The plant is characterized by a high initial rooting rate and good regrowth performance.

The dry matter composition contains about 13% protein and 12.4% soluble sugars; the energy value is 0.86 UFL. The variety has resistance to rust and can be used in grass mixtures with orchard grass, ryegrass, or clover.
