The variety belongs to the turf grass group and is a cool-season perennial grass adapted to transition climate zones. The plant has a moderately low-growing leaf type and medium leaf density. The deep root system provides the variety with high resistance to moisture deficit.

The original variety and its subsequent generations, such as Mustang 4, are distinguished by resistance to a number of common diseases, including net blotch, brown patch, leaf spot, and stem rust. The grass is frequently used in mixtures for professional and amateur landscaping.
