The variety belongs to the Festuca rubra ssp. rubra group. The plant is a fine-leaved grass with narrow needle-like leaves, forming a dense sod due to the development of underground shoots, or rhizomes.
Navigator II is adapted to regions with a cool temperate climate. The variety is characterized by high resistance to abiotic stresses, including cold and moderate drought, which allows it to be used for erosion control and landscaping in challenging environmental conditions, for example, in roadside buffer zones.
