The Ronde de Bordeaux variety is an heirloom variety with vigorous tree growth up to 3–5 m and deeply lobed leaves. The fruits are small, weighing 35–45 g, round in shape with dark blue or almost black skin and sweet red flesh. The variety is characterized by high cold hardiness down to -20°C, the ability to recover after frost damage, and an early ripening period starting from the end of July.
The Violette de Bordeaux variety is a medium-sized tree that adapts well to container cultivation. Its fruits are small to medium in size, pear-shaped, with violet-black skin and strawberry-red flesh with a honey flavor. It is a reliable parthenocarpic variety of mid-to-late maturity for dual-purpose use.
