Variety description

10 August 2026

The term Breval or Breva denotes “bífera” type varieties that fruit twice a year. In the Canary Islands, this name is used as a synonym for local varieties, such as Brevera Canaria or Brevera Blanca, and can encompass various local clones.

Plants of this type are usually medium-sized trees, reaching 3 meters in height with a spreading crown. They possess high drought tolerance, typical for figs in the Mediterranean region.

The fruits are described as large, pear-shaped, with a mass of 35–45 g. The skin color varies from dark purple to greenish-brown, the flesh is juicy and sweet, ranging in color from pink to dark red. The varieties are early-maturing and are used primarily for fresh consumption.
