The variety is a local ecotype selected through folk breeding in the Apulia region. The plant is characterized by medium vigor and an open crown type. It is a self-fertile variety that does not require pollinators.
The variety is bifere: the first crop ripens at the end of June, the second from mid-August to mid-September. The fruits have dark purple or blue-black skin and are suitable for fresh consumption, drying, and processing. The variety is adapted to a temperate climate.
