The variety is a local cultivar originating from the Algarve region in Portugal. The plant belongs to self-fertile types that do not require pollination for fruit set. The tree is characterized as productive and early-maturing.

The fruits are small to medium in size. Their skin is colored in yellow-green tones, while the pulp has a dark red color and a rich syrupy taste with honey and berry notes. The consistency of the pulp is often compared to jelly. The variety has good resistance to transport and mechanical handling.
