The variety is typical for the Liguria region and is represented by two forms: light-fruited Pissaluto Bianco and dark-fruited Pissaluto Nero. The plant belongs to the single-harvest type, fruiting only with the main crop; breba setting occurs extremely rarely or is absent. Both the tree itself and its leaves are characterized by compactness.

The fruits are small, about 2 cm in diameter, and elongated in shape. In the light-fruited variety, the skin is yellow, sugar spots may appear upon ripening, and the pulp has a reddish or amber hue. The variety shows good resistance to drought and cold and is adapted for growth on poor stony soils.

The variety belongs to the common type of fig and does not need pollination by blastophaga wasps. It is known by the synonyms Gianchetta, Bianchetta and the colloquial name couille du Pape.
