The variety belongs to the bifera group, which produces two crops per season: the first (breba) and the main (forniti). The tree is characterized as moderately vigorous. The fruits have an elongated, pear-like shape with a long and thin neck; their pulp is soft and honey-like.

The color of the fruit skin varies from greenish-brown to dark purple depending on the specific clone. The fruits are versatile in use: they are consumed fresh, used for making jams, or dried.

The name is often used as a collective designation for various forms of fig of Portuguese origin common in Italy. The variety is a product of folk selection and may act as a synonym for other varieties, for example, Lampeira.
