The Pezón Largo variety, also known as Picholetera, is a traditional local variety of the Extremadura region. It is a uniferous plant that produces one harvest per season between the beginning of August and mid-September.
The fruits have an elongated shape and are medium to medium-small in size. Their light green skin with yellowish veins is notable for its elasticity. The fruit flesh is characterized by an intense sweet flavor and high sugar content.
The plant is well adapted to arid conditions and is suitable for dry farming. The primary commercial purpose of the variety is the production of dried figs, which is due to the dense, firm consistency of the fruits, although they are also suitable for fresh consumption.
