The plant forms a compact bush. At the beginning of the season, the foliage is colored a dark purple-bronze or purple, by mid-summer it acquires purple-green shades, and in the autumn it turns yellow or red. Flowers 3–4 cm in diameter have a purple, lavender-blue, or dark lilac color.

The variety possesses winter hardiness (zone 4, down to –29°C). Flowering is abundant, continuing from late spring to September. The culture prefers sunny or semi-shaded areas with moderately moist, drained soils. It is used in landscape design for borders, mixed borders, and rock gardens.
