Variety description

The plant forms dense clumps with a height of 20–30 cm to 40–60 cm. Large rounded leaves are burgundy or chocolate-green in spring, changing their shade to pink or deep purple in summer. The leaf blades feature a silvery coating, dark venation, and a purple-red underside.

Flowering occurs from June to August; the flowers are small, red or white-pink. The variety is winter hardy (zones 5–6, down to -34°C). Cultivation requires good drainage, as excessive soil moisture is detrimental to the plant. The bush has high stability and does not lodge.
