The variety belongs to the subspecies Hordeum vulgare subsp. distichon var. nutans. It was traditionally used in brewing and met the technological requirements for the production of Czech beer of that time, possessing good yield and grain quality.
During breeding work in 1957, mutant forms of the variety were created through seed irradiation, in particular, their resistance to the pathogen Erysiphe graminis was studied. At present, the variety is used mainly as a reference genetic material for studying the history of breeding.
