The variety originates from local Hanna-type barley populations and was traditionally used in Czechoslovakia as a benchmark for malting quality. It possesses a specific genetic trait — the presence of the B47 hordein allele, which contributes to the formation of large grains with high starch content.
Compared to later varieties developed after 1965, this variety is distinguished by a different morphotype and, as a rule, a longer stem. Currently, the plant retains its significance as an object of historical breeding heritage and material for studying grain quality parameters.
