A classic variety bred in 1938, characterized by double flowers with serrated sepals and coloration ranging from pink to amethyst. The modern "Magical Amethyst" variety is a compact shrub 0.9–1.5 m tall with dark green glossy foliage and sturdy shoots that hold the inflorescences without drooping.

The plant is a chameleon variety: at the beginning of flowering, the inflorescences have lemon-green and pink tones, later acquiring purple, red, or blue shades depending on soil pH. Flowering continues from July to October. The variety is moisture-loving, prefers partial shade, and has moderate winter hardiness, requiring cover in cold regions.

The inflorescences are suitable for cutting and for use as dried flowers. The plant is suitable for container cultivation, formation of borders, and low hedges.
