The Lady Nobuko variety (also known as Frau Nobuko and Smile Angel) is a compact shrub with a height of 100–120 cm. The plant has dense dark green foliage with coarsely serrated edges.

Mophead-type inflorescences have a pinkish-white color with a light border on the edges of the petals; when grown in acidic soils, they acquire a bluish hue. Flowering lasts from July to September or October. The variety prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soils; winter hardiness is limited to temperatures down to -15°C.
