The shrub forms a spreading, rounded, or fan-shaped dense crown with strong brown shoots. The plant height varies from 1.5–2.0 m to 3–5 m. The leaves are dark green, rough, and have an ovate or elliptical shape with serrated edges.

The inflorescences are narrow-conical panicles ranging from 15–40 cm in length. The flowers are semi-open, cream-white in color, and may acquire a pinkish or pale-purple shade as they fade. The plant belongs to hardiness zone 5 (down to -25...-32 °C) and flowers from July to September.
