Variety description

The variety is a dwarf or low-growing form with a height of 0.8 to 1.2 m, featuring a dense, rounded, and spreading crown. Young shoots have a reddish-brown hue and slight pubescence, turning reddish-brown with age. The leaves are small, oblong, serrated along the margin, dull green on top and grey-green, velvety on the underside.

Inflorescences are 8–20 cm long, rounded or pyramidal-paniculate. They consist of fertile and sterile flowers, the latter turning pink as they fade. A characteristic feature is the early coloring of fertile flowers in the center. Flowering lasts from July to September.

The plant possesses high winter hardiness (USDA zone 4) and is resistant to air pollution. It prefers fertile, moist soils with a slightly acidic or acidic reaction; it is light-loving but tolerates light partial shade. It tolerates pruning well; spring shortening of annual shoots to 3–5 buds is recommended.
