The variety is a sport of Hydrangea serrata 'Fuji' and was discovered at the British nursery Mill Cottage Nursery. The plant is characterized by narrow pale green foliage covered with creamy-white spots and streaks, giving it a variegated coloring.

Inflorescences are formed in the lacecap type: fertile flowers are located in the center, surrounded at the edges by larger sterile white flowers. The variety is intended for ornamental gardening and cultivation in shady parts of the garden.
