The plant is a compact deciduous shrub 80–100 cm tall. The foliage is broad, serrated, dark green in color, and may take on a dark red hue at a young age. The inflorescences are flat, of the lacecap type, consisting of large white flowers with a pronounced pink-red margin on the edges of the petals.
Flowering occurs on the previous year's shoots in the period from July to September, sometimes extending into October. The variety is suitable for container cultivation and for use in group or single plantings. The plant is thermophilic, requires winter protection, and is susceptible to diseases and pests standard for the crop.
The variety is classified as a hybrid of Hydrangea serrata and Hydrangea macrophylla. It is part of the Dutch Ladies series. Relative salt tolerance of the plant has been noted.
