The shrub has a dense rounded or broadly funnel-shaped crown, reaching a height of 0.5 to 1.5 m. The leaves are elliptical or lanceolate, dark green in summer, and acquire a red-violet or purple hue in autumn.
The 'lacecap' type inflorescences consist of small fertile flowers in the center and larger sterile ones at the periphery. The color of the flowers varies from light blue or blue on acidic soils to pink on neutral and alkaline soils. At the end of the season, sterile flowers can change color to muted pink or dark purple.
Flowering is early and abundant, continuing from June-July to September-October; repeat flowering is possible if inflorescences are pruned. The variety possesses high winter hardiness down to -29°C (zones 5–8), is resistant to diseases and pests, and the bush does not lodge.
