The plant is a dense evergreen shrub or small tree 3–4 meters in height. It has a dense, highly branched crown with a pyramidal shape. Leaves are glossy, dark blue-green in color with prickly edges; shoots are distinguished by a purple tint.

Flowering occurs in the spring with small white flowers. Fruits in the form of bright red glossy berries ripen in the fall and remain on the branches during the winter period. To set berries, the presence of a male pollinator plant within a radius of up to 100 meters is required.

The variety prefers sunny locations or partial shade, as well as moist, well-drained soils with an acidic or neutral reaction. The plant shows resistance to air pollution, tolerates winter conditions well, and is not prone to lodging.
