The variety is an evergreen shrub with a dense, upright growth habit. The glossy, dark green leaves have sharp serrated margins. The average plant height is 1.8–2.4 m, reaching 4.5 m under favorable conditions.

Being a male plant, the variety does not produce berries and is used primarily as a pollinator for female varieties. The plant has high frost resistance, is hardy to USDA climate zones 5, and requires minimal maintenance.
