Deciduous vine with twining shoots reaching a height of 3–4 meters. Young shoots have a red-purple hue. Leaves are elliptical or ovate, green or glaucous-green, with an irregular cream-white margin, often acquiring a pinkish tint.
Flowers are tubular, bilabiate, fragrant; the outer side of the petals is purple-pink, the inner is cream or yellowish. Flowering begins in June and continues until September. The plant produces inedible shiny red fruits.
The variety is relatively undemanding, resistant to heat and drought, however, in hot humid climates it is susceptible to powdery mildew and leaf spots. Used for decorating supports or as a groundcover plant.
