The Abbondanza tree has a low to medium growth habit with an open crown. The variety possesses good winter hardiness and is distinguished by high regular productivity. The harvest matures in the first half of October.

Fruits are of medium or medium-large size, flattened in shape, often asymmetrical. The skin is waxy, greenish-yellow in color with red stripes. The flesh is cream-colored, firm, and crunchy. The flavor of the fruits is moderately sweet with acidity and wine notes.

The Abbondanza Rossa clone differs from the original variety by a more intense red coloration of the skin, which may also affect the flesh. The fruits of the variety are versatile in use, suitable for fresh consumption, baking, and drying.
