The variety «Barivc» is one of the synonyms for the traditional local variety «Štajerski pogačar», also known as «Božičnica», «Kolačara», «Pogačar», «Pogačnica», and «Pogačnik». The variety is included in the register of agricultural plants of Slovenia as an object for the conservation of genetic resources.

The apple fruits have a flattened-round shape, a greenish-yellow ground color, and a dark red blush with characteristic long stripes. They are distinguished by resistance to mechanical damage and good keeping quality. The variety matures in late September — early October and is suitable for consumption immediately after harvest; in its external characteristics, it resembles the «Ovčji nos» variety.
