The tree of medium vigor reaches a height of over 4.5 meters and possesses a sparse rounded crown, which in young plants has a broom-like or vertically oval shape. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, but may exhibit biennial bearing and fruit drop during moisture deficiency.

Fruits of medium size weighing 80–130 g have a regular rounded shape and light green or yellow skin with a spotted-striped blush. The yellowish flesh possesses juiciness and a sweet-and-sour taste with a predominance of acid. The fruits are intended for fresh consumption and processing; their keeping quality is 30–60 days.

The variety has relatively good resistance to scab, however, it is susceptible to fire blight. Borovinka has traditionally been used as a dessert variety and served as significant genetic material for apple breeding due to its adaptability and endurance in various climatic conditions.
