Trees are characterized by very vigorous growth and, when grown on seedling rootstocks, can reach impressive sizes with a crown diameter of over 10 meters. Due to the triploid chromosome set, the pollen of the variety is sterile, therefore it cannot be used as a pollinator for other apple trees.

Fruits have an oblate, often asymmetrical shape and are large or very large in size, often exceeding 300 g. The skin of the fruit is at least partially or almost completely covered with russeting. The variety is classified as an autumn variety, and fruits are prone to early dropping.

The variety is considered one of the most resistant to scab among old varieties, however, it shows medium sensitivity to powdery mildew, canker, and winter frosts. In modern agronomy, it is considered a traditional variety, important for the conservation of genetic resources.
