The variety is a bud mutation of the Belle de Boskoop variety discovered in 1923. The trees are medium-vigorous or vigorous, with a broad, semi-open crown, the height of which depends on the rootstock. The variety is characterized by a tendency toward biennial bearing and is triploid, requiring the presence of pollinator varieties.

The fruits are large, weighing 180–260 g, round or slightly flattened in shape, often with characteristic russeting on the skin. The flesh is dense, crisp, with a pronounced spicy flavor and high acidity. Consumer maturity is reached after a storage period; the fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and culinary use.

The apple tree possesses high winter hardiness, and resistance to fungal diseases is rated as medium or above average. The variety can be susceptible to fire blight and core rot.
