The variety is a triploid color mutant of Boskoop. The tree's growth habit is similar to the Boskoop Bielaar variety; it is characterized by early flowering and a low tendency toward alternate bearing.
The fruits have an average size of 75–85 mm and are distinguished by uniform intensely red coloration over a yellowish-green background. The harvest period falls in mid-September, which allows for a single-pass harvest.
The fruit flesh is firm and tart, making the variety an excellent choice for preparing strudels, baked goods, and juices. Cox, James Grieve, and Idared are recommended as pollinators.
