The variety is a color mutant of the apple variety Elstar. The fruits are characterized by a pronounced dark red or very dark red skin color, unlike the base variety with its yellow-green background and blush.

The clone inherits the main characteristics of the original Elstar variety, including juicy flesh and aroma. Harvest times correspond to the autumn period, and the fruits possess the ability for long-term storage. The plant reaches a height of about 4 meters depending on the rootstock and training method.

The produce is intended for fresh consumption, as well as for processing into juices, purees, or for use in cooking. This clone is often considered in scientific research as an object for comparative analysis of biochemical composition and fruit color intensity.
