The Elstar Michielsen fruit mutation belongs to the late autumn or winter varieties. The tree is medium-sized, heavily branched, and shows a tendency toward biennial bearing upon reaching eight years of age. Harvest maturity of the fruits occurs between mid-September and early October.

The fruits are medium-sized, round in shape, and have a golden-yellow ground color with a bright red or dark red marbled blush. The flesh is yellowish-white, juicy, and firm, possessing a characteristic sweet-and-sour taste. If overripe or stored under improper conditions, the flesh may acquire a mealy texture.

The variety is characterized by high susceptibility to fire blight and medium resistance to scab and powdery mildew. On heavy soils, the tree may be affected by canker. The variety is demanding regarding agricultural practices and requires regular summer crown pruning.
